Heute Morgen ging der Wecker um 5:30 Uhr, aber eigentlich war ich schon seit Stunden wach weil ein orkanartiger Sturm herumtobte! Wir kochten uns einen Tee und machten uns bereit für unseren letzten Golftag hier in Südafrika. Bevor wir die 20 Minuten zum Erinvale Golfplatz unter die Räder nahmen, stärkten wir uns mit einem starken Espresso.

This morning the alarm clock went off at 5:30 am, but actually I was awake already a couple of hours since a violent storm was rampaging! We boiled some water for tea and got read for our last golf day here in South Africa. Before we hit the road of about 20 minutes to the Erinvale Golf Course we had an extra strong espresso.

Um 6 Uhr fuhren wir in der Morgendämmerung los und um 7 Uhr schlugen wir mit Jacques, einem Schweizer aus Hong Kong, ab. Seine Frau Christine hatte am ersten Ferientag hier ihren Arm gebrochen und begleitete uns deshalb als aufgestellte Cheerleaderin! Der anspruchsvolle Golfplatz flankiert von den Hottentotten Mountains und mit Sicht auf die False Bay forderte all unser Können - ich spielte fantastisch! Ob das am Espresso oder gar an der frühen Morgenstunde lag? Die 2. 9 Loch sind wunderschön, die ersten, total verbauten 9 hätten wir besser ausgelassen!

At 6 am at dawn we made ourselves on the way and at 7 am we drove off with Jacques, a Swiss from Hong Kong. His wife Christine had broken her arm on the first day of their holiday, so she was accompanying us as a cheerful cheerleader! The challenging course flanked by the Hottentotten Mountains and with view to the False Bay demanded all our skills - I played very well! I wonder if it was because of the espresso or even due to the early hour? The 2nd 9 holes were awesome, the 1st, totally obstructed 9 we'd rather skipped!

Zum Mittagessen fuhren wir zur nebenan gelegenen Lourensford Weinfarm, die Christine und Jacques kannten, und liessen es uns mit Speis und Trank gut gehen... Bis wir dann zurück in unserem Guesthouse waren, war es späterer Nachmittag – genau richtig um ein Nickerchen auf der Dachterrasse zu halten…

For lunch we went next door to the Lourensford vinery which Christine and Jacques knew and had ourselves treated with food and wines... Until we got back at our guesthouse it was late in the afternoon – just perfect to have a snooze on the roof terrace…

Um 21 Uhr verspürten wir doch noch ein kleines Hüngerchen und fuhren in den Hafen zum Restaurant The Tavern, wo wir gerade noch den letzten Tisch ergatterten und einen ‘neuen‘ Fisch, den Yellowtail ausprobierten, der mir persönlich nicht so schmeckte. : ( Dafür war der Crevetten Cocktail zur Vorspeise, das Gemüse und die Zitronenbuttersauce sehr lecker – so auch der Preis: Fr. 30 total für 2 Personen inkl. Wein!!!

At 9 pm we yet again felt a kind of hungry and drove to the port to the restaurant The Tavern, where we snatched the last table and tried out a ‘new’ fish, the yellowtail which I personally didn’t like very much. : ( In return our starter the shrip cocktail as well as the veggies and lemon-butter sauce were delicious – so was the price: USD 30 in total for 2 persons including the wine!!!
